German Car?

I was thinking of buying a German car, so I thought I'd give my dad a ring to see what he thought. As he is quite knowledgeable about cars.

Anyway, I phoned him up and explained the situation to him. And he was quite adamant that I shouldn't buy a German car, not after what had happened to my grandfather during the war.

This was something that I knew nothing about, so I enquired as to what the circumstances were? Eventually my father revealed that my grandfather had owned a more than fifteen different German cars during the war. All of which had repeatedly broken down and conked out on him. One a Mercedes, had broken down more than a dozen times, and always at the most inconvenient time.

All of which is very inconvenient and extremely embarrassing at the best of times, but when you are a Gestapo officer?
